Born in Brighton, Sussex, and educated at Charterhouse and Ravensbourne Film School. Peter James’ career spans the UK and Canada.

After graduating from Ravensbourne in 1970, he emigrated to Canada, where he developed a career as a TV scriptwriter and film producer. James returned to England in 1979 to concentrate on writing. He is now a multi-award winning author of crime fiction novels, especially renowned for the Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series of crime thrillers.

He is published in 34 languages and is a regular after-dinner speaker who appears at literary festivals around the globe, including Dubai, Munich, Paris, Melbourne, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Antwerp, Toronto, Auckland, Milan, Barcelona, Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok [and very soon...Oswestry].
